Damar Hamlin Makes 'Amazing' Recovery and Has Special Message for His Team
"The breathing tube is out, and he’s spent the morning speaking to various teammates on Facetime."
Damar Hamlin has had a whirlwind week. After a terrifying collapse on Monday Night Football that led to him getting CPR on the field, even dying twice according to reports, he appears to be making a dramatic recovery.
"This is amazing: For the first time, #Bills S Damar Hamlin is addressing the team via Facetime," Ian Rapoport reported. "The breathing tube is out, and he’s spent the morning speaking to various teammates on Facetime. Now, he’s delivering a message to the entire group, I’m told."
Millions have prayed for Hamlin's recovery and have donated over $6 million to his charity toy drive.
Buffalo Bills cornerback Kaiir Elam provided updates on safety Damar Hamlin Thursday morning.
Elam tweeted the second-year pro is "awake and showing more signs of improvement."
"Our boy is doing better, awake and showing more signs of improvement," Elam posted to Twitter. "Thank you God. Keep the prayers coming please. All love 3!"
The Buffalo Bills also added an update on the player's health: Hamlin has shown "remarkable improvement" and is "neurologically intact."
"Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours," the Bills tweeted. "While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress."
"We are grateful for the love and support we have received," the Bills added.
The Buffalo Bills player has been very open about his love of God and family and is a devout Christian. The 24-year-old player attended a Catholic high school in Pittsburgh, which issued a prayer for its former student and football player.
“Central Catholic High School is praying for the well-being and swift recovery of Damar Hamlin, ‘16. May the Lord be with him and his family during this most difficult time. Hamlin collapsed during the Monday Night Football game against the @Bengals on 1-02-23,” the school tweeted after Hamlin's incident.
Hamlin’s Christian faith has been his rock throughout his trials as a young man and NFL player.
“My faith is in God. So, whatever He has planned for me, that’ll be it,” he once told reporters.
Miraculously, those plans seem to be that Damar Hamlin will survive his nearly tragic incident.
After being intubated typically your throat is very irritated so it seems strange he is up to multiple facetimes the very first day. Odd.
All Glory to God. In our present darkness God sends a message through a believer. On a very big stage.
