A Warning for America? How 'Controlled Opposition' Thwarted the Rise of the Populist Right in France's Elections
"Much of the 'democracy' in Western nations is a game of optics being played by globalists, who dominate the hard left and control much of the 'fake opposition' on the controlled right."
France has once again descended into chaos.
This is not exactly breaking news, as the French republic is damned to be the site of perpetual revolution ever since Napoleon brought an end to the First Republic.
But on Sunday, the hard left pulled off an election ‘victory’ so improbable that it stunned international observers.
The one-time European major power is now facing an uncertain future after an unprecedented ‘shotgun wedding’ between the hard left and the centre-right was improbably consummated to rescue the unpopular globalist president Emmanuel Macron after his calls for a ‘snap election.’
The pretext for the unlikely alliance between the centre-right and the socialist left (as well as its Communist bedfellows and the radicals at France Unbound) was to put aside their innumerable differences — as well as their massive egos — to thwart the imagined threat of the so-called “far right”: These are the anti-globalist, NATO-skeptic, EU-averse populists led by Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella of National Rally Alliance (RN).
Just to recap, the first round of European Parliament elections on June 9 had sent the French ruling class into a panic.
French opinion polling showed the right-wing National Rally Alliance (RN) as far and away the most popular single party.
This caused unpopular French president Macron to take the extraordinary step of calling a “snap election.”
The results of the “snap election” was a French parliament seemingly fractured by various parties. New Popular Front, the euphemistic alliance between hard left and centre-right candidates, garnered 188 seats — short of the 289 needed for a single-party majority.
National Rally was able to get 37% of the vote — the most of any single party, leading to a gain of 53 seats.
How could this happen? Why would the centre-right ally with the socialist left to block the right-wing populists at National Rally?
It is because much of the “democracy” in Western nations is a game of optics being played by globalists, who dominate the hard left and control much of the “fake opposition” on the controlled right.
We call them the Uniparty in America.
